The Click2Map Import Wizard allows you to import new and modified markers into one or several groups. To learn how to import markers with Click2Map, read the the How to Import Markers tutorial.
To open the Import Wizard and start importing your markers, use the Tools > Import… command from the main menu.
The first step of the Import Wizard is a simple welcome screen: click on the Next button to move on to the second step or on the Cancel button to abort the import process and close the Wizard.
This step lets you select the format of the file you wish to import:
Click on the Browse button to open your operating system's standard file selection dialog box and select the data file you wish to import. Then, click on the Next button to validate your choice.
In this step, the Import Wizard lets you review the selected import parameters. If the Type and the File name displayed in the Summary section are correct, simpy click on the Import Now! button to start the import process.
The Click2Map Import Wizard performs an analysis of your import file and associates its various columns with the standard Click2Map data format. For example, if your import file includes a “Description” column, the Import Wizard automatically associates it content with the Click2Map marker description field. You can also define personalized data fields to store additional specific information.
Associate: First select an element in the File liste, then select the corresponding field in the Click2Map column, and finally click on the Associate button to associate the two elements.
Auto detect: Click on this button to let the Import Wizard analyze the content of the two columns and try to associate matching columns. This detection is performed the first time the association window is loaded.
Remove: Click on this button to remove the selected association from the Associations list.
Clear All: Click on this button to remove all associations.
My Database: Click on this button to define new
Data fields in your personal database. See also: the
My Database dialog box.
OK: Click on this button to save all associations and resume the import process.
Cancel: Click on this button to cancel colum association and return to the previous Import Wizard step.
The Import Wizard may detect errors during the import process, for example if it was unable to geocode a marker, in other words if it was unable to match a postal address with geographical coordinates. The Error Log provides you with the list of all errors and mistakes so that you can correct them. It is also possible to delete erroneous markers or to export them to correct them.
Error List: The error list displays the name, title and the error type for each marker. Double-click on a line to correct the corresponding marker.
Select All: Check this option to select all the markers present in the error list. Note: to select multiple contiguous markers, hold the Shift key; to select multiple non-adjacent markers, hold the Ctrl key.
Delete selected markers: Click on this button to delete all selected markers.
Export selected markers: Click on this button to export all selected markers into a CSV file. Please select the desired separator from the Separator list before pressing the export button.
Separator: Select the desired separator from this list before exporting markers.
Colon: Select this option it you want to generate a CSV text file separated by colons.
Semicolon: Select this option it you want to generate a CSV text file separated by semicolons.
Tabultation: Select this option it you want to generate a CSV text file separated by tabulations.
Close: Click on this button to close the Import Error Log window and end the marker import process.
