How to Create Markers

Markers can be added to existing maps and groups using three different methods. New markers are always created in the active map or group.

Using the Main Menu

  1. The Marker Dialog BoxFirst, in the Map Explorer, select the map or group in which the new marker should be created. To do so, left-click on the corresponding map or group name.
  2. In the main menu, use the New > Marker… command to open the New Marker dialog box and define your marker's properties.
  3. If your marker needs to be centered on a specific geographical location (country, city, street or full address), enter the exact address in the Address text area and click on the Geocode button to convert the address to its geographical coordinates.

Using the Contextual Menu

  1. The Marker Dialog BoxIn the Map Explorer, right-click on the name of the map or group in which the new marker should be created: use the Add Marker… command from the contextual menu that appears.
  2. The New Marker dialog box opens, in which you can define your marker's properties.
  3. If your marker needs to be centered on a specific geographical location (country, city, street or full address), enter the exact address in the Address text area and click on the Geocode button to convert the address to its geographical coordinates.

Using the Quick Add Mode

  1. First, in the Map Explorer, select the map or group in which new markers should be created. To do so, left-click on the corresponding map or group name.
  2. To enter Quick Add mode, left-click on the Quick Add button present in the main menu bar.
  3. When this mode is active, a new blank marker is added to the map each time you left-click on the map. You can thus add as many markers as you need and define their properties later.
  4. To leave the Quick Add mode, left-click again on the Quick Add button present in the main menu bar.

Note: While in Quick Add mode, you can still use the mouse to drag the map in any direction and the mouse wheel to zoom in or out - you can however no longer double left-click to zoom in on the map as this mouse button is used to create new markers.
