The points of interest you add on map correspond to a marker with an icon. Each marker can hold a lot of information among which : a title, a description, an address, geographical coordinates, a link to a website or an e-mail address, etc. Click2Map even allows you to choose where and how each piece of information should be displayed in a marker's information window that appears when a visitor clicks on a marker.
Creating several markers that have certain elements in common (same icon, same information tabs, etc.) is an operation that quickly becomes boring and unproductive: that's the reason why Click2Map allows you to create marker templates.
Marker templates help you work faster and in a more efficient way: creating a template is as easy as creating a marker. once you have created a marker template, you can start creating as many markers as you need from this marker template. This tutorial will show you how to create a marker template. As an example, we'll create a template for a list of homes in the San Diego area (we'll use the same data used in the How to Import Markers tutorial).
In Click2Map's main menu, use the
Tools >
Template Set command to open the
Template Set dialog box.
Click on the
Add… button to open the
New Template dialog box.
Enter the following information:
Template Name: Enter here the name of you template, for example, Real Estate.
Marker address: Check this option to make sure all the markers created from you template include an address section.
Change marker icon: Click on this button to change the icon that should be used by all the markers created from this template. Please select an icon different from the default icon.

Click on the
Additional Properties tab and enter the following information (see:
The Template dialog box for more detailed information):
Check the Web link option and enter the link properties below:
URL Address: To associate a default Web address with all the markers created with this template, enter it here. We'll simply enter
http://www.click2map.com.
Link text: To create a hyperlink to the
URL Address entered above and display it instead of the link code, we'll enter
Click2Map Website here.
Check the E-mail link option and enter the link properties below:
E-mail address: To associate a default e-mail address with all the markers created with this template, we'll enter contact@click2map.com here.
Link text: To create a hyperlink to the e-mail address entered above and display it instead of the link code, we'll enter the text Contact Us here.
Tags: We'll then associate text tags or keywords with all the markers generated with this template. To do so, we'll simply enter the desired tags here: California, Real Estate, Click2Map.
Click on the OK button to save your marker template.
Use the
New >
Marker from Template command from Click2Map's main menu to open the
Choose Template dialog box.
In the
Choose Template dialog box, select the
Real Estate template you created earlier in this tutorial and click on the
OK button to activate it.
In the Marker Properties tab, enter a title, a description and a postal address (click on the Geocode button if you wish to locate the address on the map). Note that the icon associated with your new marker is the icon you selected when you created the marker template.
Click on the Additional Properties tab and notice that the web and e-mail links as well as the tags are already filled in with the information present in the template. Thanks to your template, you only have to enter the information specific to each marker; all common elements are already here.
Click on the OK button to save your marker.
