The Bulk Operations Dialog Box

The Bulk Operations dialog box provides access to options that can be used to modify multiple markers at the same time. If you need to rename several markers, change their description, or move them to a different map or group, use the Tools > Bulk Operations command from the main menu to open the Bulk Operations dialog box.

The Bulk Operations dialog box looks like a standard Explorer window: the left pane displays a hierachical list of all your maps and groups; the right pane displays all the markers present in the map or group currently selected in the left pane.

Selecting markers

All available bulk operations always apply to the selected markers: it is necessary to select all the markers you wish to modify first. To select a marker for modification, simply check the corresponding checkbox present in the first rigth pane column: selected markers appear with a green background.

Change Description

To change the description of multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Change Description option from the list and click OK. The Description dialog box then appears:

  • Text area: Use the text area to enter or paste the new description text. The description text can contain standard text as well as standard and custom Click2Map variables: variables can be used to personalize each marker's description even if they share the same structure.   • Display in default tab: Check this option if you wish to display the description in the default tab of your markers' information window.
  • Clear description: Check this option if you wish to clear the selected markers' description.

Warning: the Change Description bulk operation permanently overwrites any existing descriptions!

Change Web Link

To change the web link associated with multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Change Web Link option from the list and click OK. The Web Link dialog box then appears:

  • URL Address: Enter here the full URL address you wish to link to. To clear all existing URL addresses from the selected markers, check the Clear option.
  • Text: Enter here the text for the hyperlink you wish to associate with the URL address entered above. To clear all existing hyperlink texts from the selected markers, check the Clear option.
  • Open link in new window: Links by default open in the same window as the hyperlink text. To change this and have linked pages open in a new window, check this option.
  • Display in default tab: Check this option if you wish to display the hyperlink in the default tab of your markers' information window.

Change E-mail

To change the e-mail link associated with multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Change E-mail option from the list and click OK. The E-mail Link dialog box then appears:

  • E-mail: Enter here the e-mail address you wish to link to. To clear all existing e-mail addresses from the selected markers, check the Clear option.
  • Text: Enter here the text for the hyperlink you wish to associate with the e-mail address entered above. To clear all existing hyperlink texts from the selected markers, check the Clear option.
  • Display in default tab: Check this option if you wish to display the e-mail hyperlink in the default tab of your markers' information window.

Change Tags

To change the tags associated with multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Change Tags option from the list and click OK. The Tags dialog box then appears:

  • Tags: To associate text Tags or keywords with your marker, enter them here and separate them with commas: e.g. restaurant, cheap, new
  • Clear: To clear all existing tags from the selected markers, check the Clear option.

Change Icon

To change the icon associated with multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Change Icon option from the list and click OK. The Icon Set dialog box then appears:

  • Icon Set: The Icon Set dialog box lets you select the icon you wish to associate with the selected markers. For a full description, see The Icon Set Dialog Box.

Add Tabs

To add new tabs to multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Add Tabs option from the list and click OK. The Extra Tabs dialog box then appears:

  • Extra Tabs: The Extra Tabs dialog box allows you to associate even more text, photos and custom code with you markers. For a full description, see Extra Tabs

Note: The Add Tabs bulk operation is non destructive and preserves your markers' existing tabs.

Remove Tabs

To remove all existing tabs from multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Remove Tabs option from the list and click OK. A Confirmation dialog box then appears:

  • Yes: Click on Yes if you really want to permanently delete all existing tabs from the selected markers. This operation cannot be undone, so proceed with caution.
  • No: Click on No to cancel the operation and close the Confirmation dialog box.

Delete

To delete multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers you wish to delete, then select the Delete option from the list and click OK. A Confirmation dialog box then appears:

  • Yes: Click on Yes if you really want to permanently delete the selected markers. This operation cannot be undone, so proceed with caution.
  • No: Click on No to cancel the operation and close the Confirmation dialog box.

Copy

To duplicate multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers you wish to copy, then select the Copy option from the list and click OK. The Destination dialog box then appears:

  • My Maps: The My Maps treeview displays the list of all your maps and groups. Left click on the name of the map or group that should receive the copy of the selected markers.
  • OK: Click on OK to validate the operation and close the Destination dialog box.

Move

To move multiple markers to another map or group, first select the markers you wish to move, then select the Move option from the list and click OK. The Destination dialog box then appears:

  • My Maps: The My Maps treeview displays the list of all your maps and groups. Left click on the name of the map or group where the selected markers should be moved to.
  • OK: Click on OK to validate the operation and close the Destination dialog box.

Geocode

To geocode the position of multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers you wish to geocode, then select the Geocode option from the list and click OK. A Confirmation dialog box then appears:

  • Yes: Click on Yes if you really want to geocode the selected markers.
  • No: Click on No to cancel the operation and close the Confirmation dialog box.

Apply Template

To apply a template to multiple markers at the same time, first select the markers to which the modification should apply, then select the Apply Template option from the list and click OK. The Choose Template dialog box then appears:

Once you've selected the desired template, click on the OK button. The Template Selection dialog box then appears to let you define precisely how the template should be applied to the selected markers.

  • Change Template: If the template name displayed to the left does not correspond to the one you wish to apply, click on the Change template button to select the correct template.
  • Properties: The options available in this group determine how marker properties should be handled.
    • Replace marker properties by non-empty values from template: Select this option if you wish existing marker properties to be replaced by existing template properties. Whenever a property exists within the template and is not empty, its value will replace the corresponding marker property.
    • Replace all marker properties by template values: Select this option if you wish to replace all marker properties by equivalent properties from the template. All marker properties will be overwritten by those defined in the template, even if they are empty.
    • Do not change properties: Select this option if you want your existing markers' properties to be left unchanged.
  • Extra Tabs: The options available in this group determine how extra tabs should be handled.
    • Add template tabs to markers: Select this option if you wish to keep your markers' existing extra tabs and add those defined in the template to them.
    • Erase marker tabs, then add template tabs: Select this option if you wish to delete all existing extra tabs from your markers and replace them by those defined in the template.
    • Do not change tabs: Select this option if you want your markers' extra tabs to be left unchanged.
