The Click2Map User Interface

The Click2Map user interface was designed to make all users comfortable: even though Click2Map is a browser based online application, it preserves the general philosophy and ergonomy of desktop applications. The following sections include a detailed presentation of Click2Map's menus, buttons and dialog boxes.

The Click2Map User Interface

The Main Toolbar

The toolbar buttons provide quick and easy access to Click2Map's main functionalities.

The "New" Menu

The "Edit Map" Menu

The "Quick Add" Button

To quickly add a new marker on the selected map, first left-click on the Quick Add button, then left-click on the map at the desired location: a new blank marker will then appear and, if the option is turned on, the Quick Add Marker dialog box will be displayed.

You can add multiple new markers by simply left-clicking several times on your map while the Quick Add button is still active.

To return Click2Map to its default operating mode and exit the Quick Add mode, simply left-click on the Quick Add button a second time to turn this mode off.

The "Drawing" Menu

Click2Map allows you to draw lines and polygons on your maps using simple mouse clicks. Once you've drawn the desired line or shape, the Edit Drawing dialog box that appears lets you enter its title, name or ID as well as its description. This dialog box also allows you to modify the color, line width, opacity, etc. To modify an existing shape, simply switch to Edit Mode.

The "My Database" Menu

Click2Map includes a powerful database system that can be used to organize and store information that can then be automatically inserted into new or existing markers and marker templates.

The "Publish" Menu

You can share Click2Map maps with others in different ways: you can generate a hosted webpage and share its address with your colleagues, customers, etc. or generate a widget and embed it in an existing webpage on your website.

The "Logout" Button

To log out from your Click2Map account, left-click on the Logout button. It is always recommended to log out from your account when you're not using Click2Map: this security measure ensures that no one can modify or delete your data while you away.

The "Tools" Menu

The Tools menu provide access to advanced productivity and personalization features.

The "About" Button

To display information about the Click2Map Editor, its developers and the Click2Map company, left-click on the About button.

The Map Area

The map area is the place where all your markers and drawings are displayed: it provides a visual representation of your data and offers you full access to Google's mapping system. The controls, buttons and sliders are identical to those available on the Google Maps' website.

The General Map

The general map is the central part of the user interface in which the main map is displayed. This is where all your markers appear and where you can consult information about a specific marker. It is possible to drag the map to any direction and to change its magnification level to zoom in or out when needed.

The Exploration Area

The bottom part of the Click2Map interface provides easy access to all your maps, markers, drawings and groups. It works exactly like Windows' Explorer: simple left-click on a category in the left tree view to list its contents in the right panel.

The Click2Map Explorer

The map exploration area can be used to browse through existing maps, markers, drawings & groups and to perform search operations.
