Click2Map Variables

In addition to its powerful database system, Click2Map gives you the possibility to use variables that you can insert wherever you want to put existing information without having to retype it. The ideal place to use variables is of course in marker templates.

• $title: Used to insert the title of a marker.
• $description: Used to insert the description of a marker.
• $address: Used to insert the postal address of a marker.
• $name: Used to insert the name/ID of a marker.
• $url.address: Used to insert the URL address of a marker.
• $url.text: Used to insert the link text of a marker.
• $email.address: Used to insert the e-mail address of a marker.
• $email.text: Used to insert the e-mail link text of a marker.
• $tags: Used to insert the tags associated with a marker.
• $group: Used to insert the name of the group, if any, to which a marker belongs.
• $treegroups: Used to insert the full group path of a marker. Will return A/B/C if a the marker is in subgroup C.
• $lat.decimals: Used to insert the latitude of a marker in decimal notation.
• $lat.dms: Used to insert the latitude of a marker in degrees, minutes, seconds form.
• $long.decimals: Used to insert the longitude of a marker in decimal notation.
• $long.dms: Used to insert the longitude of a marker in degrees, minutes, seconds form.

Any information added in custom Data Categories and Data Fields through the My Database functionnalities can also be inserted into marker templates or anywhere you may need them.

The character used to declare a custom variable is the # character (when default variables use the $ character).

For example, if we create a data category named “MyCategory” and add three data fields named “DataField1”, “DataField2” and “DataField3” to it, we can easily insert the content of any of these data fields by using the following syntax:

• #MyCategory.DataField1: Used to insert the content of the DataField1 field present in the MyCategory data category.
• #MyCategory.DataField2: Used to insert the content of the DataField2 field present in the MyCategory data category.
• #MyCategory.DataField3: Used to insert the content of the DataField3 field present in the MyCategory data category.

You can of course insert the content of any data field from any data category.
